We have had an excellent fall season in activities.  Our students have excelled in marching band, All-State vocal selections, drama, Special Olympics, cheerleading, girls swim, cross country, volleyball, and so much more.

Our football team has also had an excellent season; in fact, they are taking their 11-0 record to the UNI Dome in Cedar Rapids to play Cedar Rapids Xavier this Thursday at 8:15 p.m.  We would love to have a great showing from our fans and students on Thursday to help our football team make history, so we will have a pep bus to the game for students. The cost will be $10 for the ticket plus $15 for the charter bus ride to the game.  The bus will leave after school on Thursday. Students need to sign up and pay in the activities office by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

It is that time of year when absences can occur.  Please make sure you are calling in your student at 712-366-8249 or 712-366-8322.  Email is also an option:,, or

School safety is our number one priority, and we want you to be fully aware of the procedures and drills we use to help ensure your child’s safety.  One of the first steps is to make sure your contact information is up to date and accurate in PowerSchool by logging into your account at or contact someone in the office if you need assistance.  Here is a video that describes our Standard Response Protocol.  Lastly, be ready to receive information associated with the reunification procedures.  These three steps are described in this video provided by the Douglas County Schools.  While our procedures might not be exactly the same as those described in this video, the framework and steps of Stay Home, Stay Informed, and Be Ready are the same.  For more information here is an article on our webpage.

Next week is the end of the first trimester and that means it is time for finals.  We will have final exams on November 14 and 15. Please make sure your child is properly preparing for these assessments.  That means not only studying, but getting a good night's sleep and breakfast before school. You should also make every effort to make sure you do not have any conflicts or events planned on these dates.  One potential conflict that we hope to have is our football team playing in the championship game on the 15th. If that is the case, more information will be shared at the end of this week.

If your student is enrolled in an Advanced Placement course, they need to register for their examination at this time.  Here is more information about what to do.

Vaping has become a serious health issue for students across the nation.  Please use this article as a catalyst to a conversation with your child about the hazards of vaping.

Sophomore parents interested in $30,000 in free education at Iowa Western Community College for your child should read more about the exciting opportunities provided through the Pottawattamie Promise Scholarship.
