Parent-Teacher Conferences

January 17, 2019

Dear Parents,

The faculty and I would like to cordially invite you to attend our second trimester parent-teacher conferences, which will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on the evenings of Monday, January 21,  and Wednesday, January 23.  We encourage you to enter the school through the main doors to pick up your student’s Progress Report and a map of the school prior to visiting with teachers in their classrooms.

Remember that you can always monitor your student’s progress through our PowerSchool gradebook.  As you enter the school through the main doors, staff will be available to provide any assistance needed to get your PowerSchool gradebook username and password, or you are welcome to stop by our main office during our normal school hours to pick up that information.

In an attempt to increase efficiency and to give each parent an opportunity to meet with all necessary teachers, we would ask that you please follow our preferred conference protocol.  First, we will ask that teachers and parents limit each conference to 5-7 minutes in order to respect all those waiting to see teachers. If 5-7 minutes are not sufficient, the teacher and parent will need to end the conference with a plan to continue communication at another time.  All conferences should conclude with a plan for continuous communication between the teacher and parent.

Communication is at the core of the parent-teacher conference, and therefore, we would also like to remind you of ways you can stay informed of school happenings and events.  This can be done by making frequent visits to our school’s webpage at http://lchs.lewiscentral.org/.  Our Daily Student Bulletin can be found under the pull-down headings of “For Parents” and “For Students.”

On Monday, January 21, LCHS counselors and staff certified in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be offering their services free of charge to seniors and/or their parents from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the high school library to help you complete your application.

Scholarship season has begun and therefore we would remind you to read the announcements and check the listing of scholarships found on our “School Counseling” page under “Scholarship List.”  If you have additional questions, please contact 11th and 12th grade counselor, Mrs. Bode-Steinke.

Sophomores and parents of sophomore students, it is not too early to begin planning for the Pottawattamie Promise scholarship opportunity.  Eligible students from the class of 2020 will need to have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Make sure your child is doing everything possible to have the G.P.A. to be eligible to apply for this scholarship worth $30,000 at IWCC.  Here is some additional information.

We look forward to seeing you at our parent-teacher conferences.

Proud to be a Titan!
