Community Service & Philanthropy

The Lewis Central Cheerteam prides itself on giving back to the community and volunteering their time to make a difference in the lives of others.  Here are some events the cheerleaders participated in for the 2011-2012 season...

July 2011 - The LC Cheerteam decided to volunteer their time filling sandbags at the Mid-America Center to help area flood victims. It was a hot and arduous task, but the cheerleaders were happy to help and lend a hand. Don't cheerleaders have fun doing everything?!

In the summer of 2011, UCA invited all of their camp participants to take part in a letter writing campaign to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  The Lewis Central cheerleaders arrived at camp with their letters written and ready to go - each cheerleader did a minimum of 5 letters and some went above and beyond.  Each cheerteam member received a pin at camp for taking part in the letter writing campaign and Lewis Central was the ONLY team at camp to remember and take part!

October 2011 - The LC Cheerteam volunteered their time for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Henry Doorly Zoo.  They painted faces and ran games for the Make-A-Wish kids and their families.  They helped out with plinko, bean bag toss, stuffed pig races, etc.  The girls had a fabulous time!
