The 4th Annual Walk for Vodec was held Saturday, October 1 at Stinson Park at Aksarben Village in Omaha.  The Vocational Development Centers (Vodec) provide work and housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities in the Council Bluffs and Omaha area. In addition to the walk, participants were treated with music by the Geezer Band and Lester St. James from KGOR, clowns, Casey from the Omaha Storm Chasers, bagels from the Bagel Bin and Godfathers pizza.
Several Lewis Central students and staff took part in this fund-raising activity by volunteering or participating in the walk.  The volunteers helped to set up the event, help the walkers at intersections, hand out water and encourage everyone along the way.  Students who volunteered were student council members Hannah Dmyterko, Haley Cleaver and Jacob Riedemann.  Staff volunteers were Donna Bush (walk chairperson).  Lu Peveril, student council sponsor, Elisa Burke, and Barb Motes.  Staff who supported the fundraiser by participating in the walk were John Drake, Lorraine and Ted Duitsman and family, and Lyndsey Struble.  By volunteering or participating these students and staff helped to raise over $12,000 for Vodec.  That's the way to show your helping spirit, LC!
