FAFSA night

As a part of our Fast Forward! initiative, Lewis Central hosted its inaugural FAFSA Completion Night on Wednesday, October 11.  FAFSA, which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is an application that seniors and their parent or guardian must complete to receive any federal aid dollars to help them cover the cost of college or trade school.

Mr. Steve Irvin, a Student Success Advisor and financial aid expert, joined Pat Nepple, Derek Archer, and Jackie Bode-Steinke in our Media Center from 5:00-8:00 on the 11th.  All four have been certified to provide FAFSA assistance.  Seniors and their families were invited to use the school computers and wifi to complete their FAFSA so that they could get questions answered as they worked through the financial aid application.

Mr. Irvin, who has participated in many of these FAFSA completion events said, "Wow, for your first time, this was a very good crowd.  It was great to help so many seniors get FAFSA completion crossed off their To-Do List."  Forty-two people took advantage of this opportunity, and 11-12 School Counselor Jackie Bode-Steinke stated, "Based on the great turnout and the many 'thank-yous' we received, this will definitely be an annual event.  Next year, the Class of 2019 should check their emails and the District calendar so that they can prioritize taking advantage of this service."

If current seniors and their parent or guardian would still like some help to complete their FAFSA, they are encouraged to go to the following webpage to sign up for a time to meet with Mr. Irvin; his office is on the IWCC campus:
