Meet the Intern!

Introducing Grace Edwards, our January Intern!
Posted on 01/25/2018

For the internship program this month, we’d like to feature Grace Edwards.  Grace’s internship is at the Joslyn Art Museum.  Grace chose this organization because of her strong interest in her Art classes here at Lewis Central.  During her internship, Grace’s primary function is to assist in the Education Department at Joslyn.  She assists home schooled students with their art work classes being taken at Joslyn.  She also performs office work needed such as helping organize classes, working on spreadsheets related to workshops, etc.  In the future, she will work with installing art exhibits, attend meetings giving her input on teens and art, and will job shadow other positions in the museum.

Grace has learned that there are more jobs in an art museum than she had previously envisioned.  She has learned that she likes the education-side of an art museum where community members are given a chance to explore their artistic talents.  She enjoys helping them with this.  The internship program has helped Grace consider different career options in the art world.

Grace would recommend students taking the internship class because it gives students more career-related experiences than a regular part-time job would.   This is because you are exploring a field you are actually interested in.

If an LC senior is interested in the internship program, please talk with School Counseling to get signed up for the class!
