Lewis Central students have had two recent opportunities to see first hand some trade and manufacturing  opportunities here in the local area.

On Friday, October 6, students participated in National Manufacturing Day by taking a tour of Warren Distribution plant in Council Bluffs.  Participants were able to see the entire process of the plant from making plastic containers, to filling the containers with oil and then the warehouse and distribution center.  Students learned about job opportunities in all area of the company.

Metro Community College Auto Collision department hosted an open house at their Applied Technology Center in Omaha, on Friday, October 20. Twenty-six students attended.  Part of the afternoon consisted of challenging students in timed competitions that gave them an opportunity to use a variety of "nuts and bolts"  and tools for some fun, hands on activities.  Students were also provided information about the process of auto body painting, and program opportunities offered through Metro.
