Titan Time Mental Health Lessons

Recently in our Titan Time advisement classes, we have had several lessons on the topic of mental health.  We know that in addition to recent events in our school, that our students, like many across the nation, either know someone that deals with mental health issues and/or may experience those issues themselves.  Our goal with these lessons is first and foremost to let our students know that it is okay to talk about mental health and, equally as important, that they know where to go and what to do if they or someone they know is struggling with mental health issues.

Dealing with mental health issues can at times feel like you are walking the journey of life alone or only seeing one set of footprints in the sand, but having a culture in which it is okay to talk about mental health and knowing where to go for help causes us to realize we are not walking alone.  Indeed, there are footprints of people there to help and the footprints of people who understand the journey.

Here are the presentations from our lessons last week:

We hope that by sharing this content from our Titan Times with you, it opens a door for a conversation in your family about mental health and the support available, but most importantly, a conversation that lets people know your footprints are in the sand.  So they know you are walking alongside them, to help and be there for them. It is not always about having the answers, but it always starts with being present and a willingness to support others as they walk through life.
