Parent/Teacher Conferences

Like first trimester, our conferences will not be in person, but rather virtual with the option for a Zoom meeting or a phone call with your student’s teachers.  We will be using the same software that used first trimester and that our elementary schools use, PickATime, to schedule your appointments.  Our in-person P-T conferences were typically 5 to 7 minutes long, and these virtual conferences will be scheduled for 8 minutes per conference.  If you need more time than this, please plan to schedule a separate meeting with the teacher in the event your conference does not get completed in the allotted 8 minutes.  We ask that you are also patient with us as we use this format and software for the first time.  We hope we are able to use this format for our in-person conferences moving forward to avoid lines and missed opportunities to meet with your child’s teachers.

Steps for Scheduling your student’s virtual parent/teacher conference:

  1. Login or setup a PickATime account

  2. Add your student(s) using there student ID (provided below) and the student’s birth date in the format of MM/DD/YYYY

  3. Lewis Central High School Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-up Link

  4. Schedule conferences with your student’s teachers by clicking on the open time slot you would like to schedule for each teacher.

  5. A confirmation email, with the conference Zoom link, will be sent to you.

*See last Trimester’s video if you need help setting up your PickATime account, adding a student, or scheduling a conference.  (Note dates are for Tri 1 conferences)

   Student ID Number:

You will receive an email confirmation for each appointment that you set up.  The unique zoom link will be in the confirmation email.  Please save these emails for the Zoom link.

Teachers will be using the waiting room feature for zoom meetings.  Please join the zoom at least one minute prior to your scheduled time.  You will be placed into the zoom waiting room.  The teacher will admit you into the meeting for your scheduled appointment time.

Tips for a successful Zoom conference

  • Be in a location that gets good service.

  • If available, use a laptop, desktop, or Chromebook. (You are welcome to use your student’s Chromebook provided by the district.)

  • Download the app for your Apple or Android device if the above mentioned device is not available.

  • Make sure your Zoom name is accurate so the teacher knows whom to admit into the meeting.

  • Consider using headphones so you can hear clearly.

  • Place yourself in a quiet location to minimize disruptions.

  • Remember that you will first enter a Zoom waiting room and will be admitted during your appointment time.

  • If an interpreter is needed for conferences, please email or call Laurie Thies at or 712-366-8311

If you choose to receive a phone call, please enter a local phone number and be available during your scheduled time to take a phone call.

Thanks again for your cooperation, and as we work through this new format, keep in mind that you can also stay informed on your child’s progress through PowerSchool.
